After a smash first season of The Inside Games in 2019, Academy Awards winner director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade and his co-writers, Antoine Lacomblez and Séverine Werba, are back with season two of the compelling Arte series, this time entitled Circles of Power. Once again taking on the ruthless world of politics, lobbies and multinational corporations, this season pits the new Minister of Agriculture against a merciless lobbyist for the grain industry and a journalist determined to uncover the truth, as an unprecedented health crisis unfolds all around them. The chilling new episodes, blessed with the same superb ensemble cast and fine, highly complex writing, delivers yet another gripping indictment of the pesticide industry.

Acclaimed, highly prolific filmmaker Jean-Xavier de Lestrade is probably best known for his documentary work, winning the 2001 Oscar for Best Documentary Film for his ninth feature, Murder on a Sunday Morning. After studying law and journalism in Paris, he cofounded a press agency at 24 and, three years later, became an independent filmmaker, training his camera on society and its taboos – sexual violence, insanity, death, exclusion, and the inner workings of the judicial system. In addition to his many documentary films, he has co-written and directed several TV movies and series, both narrative and documentary, including The Staircase (2004-2018); Sin City Law (2007-2009); The Staircase II: The Last Chance (2013), Three Times Manon (2014); Malaterra (2015); Manon, 20 Years (COLCOA 2017); the first season of The Inside Game (COLCOA 2019, winner Best Series Award); and Laetitia (2019-2020), which premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
