Paris, 1913. Coco Chanel is in love with the young and wealthy Boy Chapel, but she is above all dedicated to her work. Igor Stravinsky rehearses The Rites of Spring. The composition’s revolutionary dissonance brings to mind, in many respects, the clothing designer’s radical work. Coco goes to the premiere of the The Rite of Spring, dressed in a dazzling white gown, the total opposite of the dreary dresses worn by the Parisian bourgeoisie. Too modern and anti-conformist, the music and the ballet are booed by a crowd on the edge of rioting. Igor is inconsolable. Seven years later, Coco, despite her success, is devastated by Boy’s death, caused by a car accident. Igor, following the Russian Revolution, is now a penniless refugee in Paris. Sergei Diaghilev, the Ballets Russes’ impresario, organizes an encounter between the pair. They are fascinated by each other. Coco offers to put Igor up in her new villa in Garches. The composer settles in at the beginning of summer, accompanied by his wife.
