Synopsis

Dreary, balding Alex and his wife live their dreary lives in the dreariest of ‘burbs… until dashing Axel and wife move in next door. Axel is, in fact, the spitting image of Alex, but with a luscious head of hair. Nevertheless, no one in this daffy world seems to notice that they’re lookalikes. No one except paranoid Alex, that is. Nicolas & Bruno‘s surreal “grass is always greener” farce provides the nimble Laurent Lafitte with the delirious doppelganger of a lifetime — a dual role that earned him the Best Actor award at this year’s Alpe d’Huez Comedy Film Festival, right on the heels of nabbing this year’s Best Actor César Award for The Richest Woman in the World (TAFFF 2025)!

Directors’ bios

Speaking of doubles… Nicolas & Bruno (a.k.a. Nicolas Charlet & Bruno Lavaine) have worked as a creative duo since the 1990s, co-writing and co-directing countless award-winning music videos and commercials, along with a string of sketch comedy TV series that have become cult classics, including the French adaptation of the British hit series The Office (2006). Their first feature was Me Two (COLCOA 2009), another doppelganger farce starring Daniel Auteuil and Alain Chabat. That was followed by the TV movie La nuit de la Cogip (2009), Le grand méchant loup (2013), and In Search of the Ultra Sex (2014). They also collaborated with writer/director Frédéric Beigbeder on the script for his film The Ideal (2016).
