In June 1940, the French village of Villeneuve in Jura awakes to the arrival of the German army – and the next four years of occupation have a shattering effect on the lives of all its inhabitants. The village is put into disarray by the occupying German military, which quickly takes control of all aspects of Villeneuve life, including the subjugation of the local government and police.
