Synopsis

Ambitious film extra Corinne has struggled for decades, studying Stanislavski, diligently honing her craft, and waiting for her big break. As the years pass, she’s getting desperate. So, when she meets celebrated actor Sandrine Kiberlain on a film set, she pounces, hoping the tides will finally turn in her favor. Marc Fitoussi‘s delicious sendup of the film industry is also (and especially) a heartfelt tribute to his leading lady. And casting Isabelle Huppert — not only the most gifted of actors, but also the most famously prolific in France — as a simpering sycophant who can’t seem to get arrested, is the inspired icing on the cake!

Director’s bio

Marc Fitoussi studied screenwriting at the Conservatoire européen d’écriture audiovisual and went on to write and direct four shorts, including Illustre inconnue (2004) and Bonbon au poivre (2005), which was nominated for a César Award for Best Short Film. His first feature, La Vie d’artiste (COLCOA 2008) won the Prix Michel d’Ornano for the Best French Narrative Film at the Deauville Film Festival. That was followed by Copacabana (COLCOA 2011 – Critics Special Prize), Pauline détective (2012), Paris Folies (2014), Mum is Wrong (2016), the “Le Troll” segment of Selfie (2019), Appearances (2020) and Two Tickets to Greece (2022). Fitoussi wrote and directed six of the most delightful, and often hilarious, episodes of Call My Agent! – those starring Isabelle Huppert, Monica Bellucci, Sandrine Kiberlain, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sigourney Weaver, as well as all episodes of the series Ça, c’est Paris! (TAFFF 2024). All About Corinne premiered as the closing film in Locarno in August, followed by a gala screening at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
