Loosely based on true events, Martin Bourboulon‘s Eiffel is, first and foremost, a love story. Hot off his successful collaboration on the Statue of Liberty, celebrated engineer Gustave Eiffel’s most fervent desire is to build the Paris metro. But the French powers that be have other ideas. They’re badgering him to design something spectacular for the upcoming 1889 Paris World’s Fair. Eiffel is not at all interested… until he runs into an old flame who reignites a long smoldering, but far from extinguished, youthful passion. And suddenly his imagination tales flight.
