Synopsis
An unwed mother intent on keeping her newborn in 1889, Rose is promptly tossed out of her family home. She manages to make her way to Paris to become a wet nurse for a wealthy family. However, she soon discovers that she’s obliged to give up her baby to do so… until a risky alternative appears. As the plot quickly thickens, Rose befriends Odette, a progressive midwife, and Hélène, a sensitive countess who lives under the thumb of her repressive mother-in-law. Together they take on the suffocating male-dominated society they find themselves in, in this truly gripping feminist “page-turner” of a series.
