A 45-minute discussion with Clément Ducol and Camille, the composers and songwriters of EMILIA PEREZ’s soundtrack, who will talk about their contribution to the creative process of the film, which was premiered in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and won 2 palms (Grand Prix du Jury, and Best Actresses). Released in the US by NETFLIX, and starring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz and Édgar Ramirez, the film is the official French entry for Best International Feature at the 96th Academy Awards and the Opening film of the 28th edition of The American French Film Festival.

Clément Ducol is a French percussionist and composer who has established himself as a versatile and innovative figure in the music industry. Known for his work as a composer, arranger, and producer, his career spans various facets of music, including pop, classical, and film scores.

Ducol has a long-standing collaboration with French singer Camille, contributing significantly to the arrangements and production of her acclaimed albums  ILO VEYOU (2011) and OUÏ (2017). They have been partners in life for 10+ years and share two children. Ducol played a significant role in bringing the music of Leo Carax’s ANNETTE to life, collaborating closely with Sparks to arrange and orchestrate the music in the film.  Ducol’s innovative contributions to music have earned him several awards and nominations, including:

  • César Awards: Best Original Music (2019): Nominated for his work on LITTLE TICKLES (COLCOA 2019) and “LA BELLE EPOQUE (COLCOA 2019).”
  • Victoires de la Musique (French Music Awards): Awarded for his work as an arranger and producer on various projects.

Clément Ducol is celebrated for his ability to blend classical and contemporary elements, creating rich, textured soundscapes that enhance the works he collaborates on. His meticulous approach to arrangement and production has made him a sought-after figure in the music and film industries.

Camille Dalmais, known as – Camille -, is a French singer, songwriter, and actress. She studied literature and music, later attending the prestigious Lycée Henri-IV. Her unique vocal style and experimental approach to sound have distinguished her in the French and international music scenes. Camille has received numerous awards and nominations throughout her career, including:

  • César Awards (2019): Nominee – Best Original Music for LA BELLE EPOQUE (COLCOA 2019), shared with Clément Ducol
  • Victoires de la Musique (French Music Awards):
    • Best New Female Artist (2006)
    • Best Female Artist (2013)
  • Prix Constantin (2005): For her album LE FIL.
  • European Border Breakers Award (2006): Recognizing her success in reaching audiences outside France.
  • Prix Raoul-Breton (2006): Awarded by SACEM for her contributions to French music and song.

Camille is celebrated for her innovative approach to music, combining elements of traditional French chanson with contemporary and experimental sounds. Her use of vocal techniques, body percussion, and linguistic play continues to inspire new generations of musicians and artists.
