Director’s bio
Writer/director, Rebecca Zlotowski‘s first co-screenwriting credit was the short film Dans le Rang, which won the SACD prize at the 2006 Directors Fortnight in Cannes. Her first feature, Belle Epine (2010), premiered in the Cannes’ Critics Week, was awarded the Prix Louis-Delluc for Best First Film and earned Léa Seydoux a César nomination for Most Promising Actress. That was followed by Grand Central (2013), which premiered in the Cannes Un Certain Regard section; Planetarium (2016), which opened at Toronto and Venice Film Festivals; An Easy Girl (2019), which premiered in the Cannes’ Directors Fortnight; and Other People’s Children (2022), which was screened in competition in Venice. On the small screen, she has written and directed several episodes of the political thriller miniseries Savages, which she co-created for Canal+. In January of this year, Zlotowski was honored with the Unifrance French Cinema Award, honoring filmmakers who have contributed to making French cinema shine abroad. A Private Life premiered out of competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It will be presented at TAFFF as the Opening Film, before its release in France and is one of the top French contenders for the Academy Awards seasons.
