1916. During the First World War, the soldiers try to keep up their morale behind the trenches. Stirred by wartime rhetoric, each of them seeks their own path. A shy young soldier named Pierre who escapes the brutality of the frontlines through a secret romance with Francis, an outgoing performer organizing morale-boosting theatre shows for the troops.
