Synopsis

A mammoth wall of speakers rises up against an ochre backdrop of towering cliffs in the Moroccan desert. A thumping bassline rises and a rave dance party, chockablock with techno-nomads, suddenly erupts. Enter a stricken Luis, his young son in tow and handing out flyers in search of his missing daughter. Thus begins Óliver Laxe‘s suspenseful, apocalyptic, truly spectacular existential odyssey, featuring a stunning performance by Sergi López and a cast of non-professional actors. “Is this what the end of the world feels like?,” one character asks. “It’s been the end of the world for a long time,” another replies. (Given its extreme violence, this film is recommended for those over 17 years of age.)
